While there was plenty of sadness and frustration around the world in the past two years, the resurgence of the human spirit and the quest for healthy longevity prevailed in our community. The WHO recommends regular exercise as a way to help fight the coronavirus. Sports and physical activity facilities are therefore important for people to stay active and strong.
When the Hong Kong government forced gyms, fitness studios, as well as other sports and recreational venues to close in order to prevent the spread of Coronavirus, people in the city found alternative locations to exercise. Some of them flocked to the Hong Kong Zoological and Botanical Gardens, one of the few outdoor public venues that was partially open during the lock-down. These health enthusiasts, some bringing along simple sports gear, improvise their work out in the available space. Their positive energy, undeterred by any imposed restrictions, demonstrates what we call here in Hong Kong, the 'Lion Rock Spirit!
